"Time spent at the Playground can be a crucial part of the family coping mechanism, making all the difference to those providing what is often 24/7 care for a child with a special need."
TVAP@35 is a local support group which has been set up especially to help the Thames Valley Adventure Playground celebrate its 35th birthday and raise vital funds to support the children and adults with a special need who have come to rely on it.  As part of their fundraising, on 28th May 2017 they put on a charity "Lunch By The River" at The Oakley Court Hotel

And what a day it was!

Hosted by the President of the Thames Valley Adventure Playground, Tim Brooke-Taylor, the afternoon started with a Champagne Reception, bathed in sunshine, on the banks of the River Thames, and an opportunity to view  some exceptional classic cars, including the unique Bristol Zagato, a rare, and working, GWK, a fabulous Cadillac and a superb Aston Martin DB5, which has had the same owner for over 50 years.  Lunch, with fabulous food by the award-winning Maliks, followed in the Grand Marquee.
During the afternoon there was a chance to bid for some excellent auction prizes, including holidays in Austria and France, a bespoke tour of the State Rooms in Windsor Castle followed by Tea with the Constable & Governor, and a private box for a Night At The Proms, along with some very special signed sporting memorabilia from Sir Steve Redgrave and Dame Katherine Grainger as well as the Manchester United squad, including Manager, José Mourinho.
220 attended the lunch, and, thanks to the awesome support of local businesses and individuals, who provided not only practical help and superb auction lots but also some most welcome cash donations, and the huge generosity of the guests, the event raised has raised in excess of £25,000 - an absolutely stunning sum which will make a real difference to the lives, not just of users of the Thames Valley Adventure Playground, but of their families and carers as well.
The TVAP@35 committee are delighted to have been able to play a part in maintaining this vital resource for the future. The Playground is a lifeline to those who have someone with a special need in their lives, and it is thanks to the tremendous backing of the local community tha
t, as it celebrates 35 years in action, it is still here and still able to support so many.
