Trustee with Recent Lived Experience

The Role

The Board would like to appoint an additional Trustee with current or very recent experience caring for people with special needs; the successful candidate might be parent or carer of current (or potential) user(s) of the Playground, or of a different facility targeted at similar people.

In essence the role will be as principal liaison between carers and Trustees, ensuring Trustees have the best possible understanding of carers’ needs and experience of the Playground, ensuring communications with them and potential/current supporters about Playground news is done effectively, identifying opportunities for beneficial service change, and sounding them out when necessary on proposals for such change. As someone with lived experience, the successful candidate will also be an Ambassador for the charity.

Full participation in the Board’s other activities will be expected. The accountabilities of Trustee of a charity are laid down by the Charity Commission and every Trustee must be fully familiar with these. Formal meetings are held once a quarter and last a couple of hours typically. In addition there will be some email correspondence to deal with and occasional ad hoc meetings/events .

If you have such experience, are comfortable with social media and have good communications/ networking skills and would like to play this important role for a few years, please email your CV to:

You must be committed to child protection, date privacy and confidentiality - the successful candidate will need to undergo regular DBS checks as the organisation deals with vulnerable children and adults.
